Seeing a once clear design start to peel, crack, or fade breaks your heart if you appreciate graphic T-shirts. Taking care of your graphic tees in the proper way goes a long way in keeping them looking new, whether it is your favorite vintage band tee or a Tee Utopia new shirt.

Follow these easy suggestions to maintain your T-shirts as striking as they were when you first acquired them.

1. Wash Inside Out!

This is the simplest of all the tricks available, and it is quite effective. By turning your graphic tees inside out before you put them in the wash, you prevent the design from abrasion against the inside of the washing machine, other clothes, and zippers. Less friction implies less harm.

2. Employ Cold Water & Use the Soft Cycle

Printed designs loathe hot water. It can over time degrade the ink and result in peeling or breaking. Stick to cold water and set your washing machine on a gentle or delicate cycle to lower tension on the material.

3. Find Alternatives for Harsh Cleaning Agents and Fabric Softeners

Strong detergents and fabric softeners can have a pleasant odor, but they will ruin the ink on graphic tees. Skip fabric softener completely; it leaves a residue that might cause the print to feel stiff and degrade more rapidly. Use a mild detergent like the ones listed above.

4. Do Not Overload the Washer

Although stuffing the washing machine full of laundry may seem like a time saver, it raises fabric friction. Further rubbing results in further peeling. Wash your tees first to give them space and protection.

5. Skip the Dryer (If You Can) or Use Low Heat / Tumble Dry Low

The speediest way to destroy a graphic T-shirt is heat. The print cracks and fades under high temperatures. The most practical solution is air drying—simply lay your shirt flat on a drying rack or hang it. Use the lowest heat setting available if you have to use a dryer.

6. Careful Ironing

Don't head right for the iron if your shirt is wrinkled. The print may suffer from direct heat. Turn the shirt inside out and iron on a low heat setting instead. If you are concerned with the style, place a thin cloth over it before ironing.

7. Keep Them Correctly Stored

How you keep your graphic tees counts more than you might think. Keeping them cool and dry and folding them neatly helps maintain both their print and shape. If you hang them, use wide, cushioned hangers to stop the collar from stretching.

Look After Your Tees, and They’ll Last for YEARS!

When it comes to keeping your graphic tees looking fresh, a little extra attention goes a long way. Follow these steps and you’ll get more use out of your favorite designs—without worrying about cracks, peeling, or fading.
